Lobby day rally at state capital tomorrow
Hundreds of Portland State students, faculty and administrators are expected to visit the Capitol Thursday to support increased funding for Oregon higher education.
The Oregon Student Association (OSA) is organizing the lobby day that will be held on the steps of the Oregon Capitol building in Salem from noon to 1 p.m. Governor Ted Kulongoski, PSU student body President Courtney Morse and representatives from Oregon universities and community colleges will speak at the event.
OSA predicts it will be the largest rally for post-secondary education since 1999, with hundreds of students from each campus, including at least 150 to 200 from PSU alone.
According to the OSA, students will hand out pie to legislators along with the message "give us a bigger piece of the pie."
Associated Students of Portland State University is organizing transportation for students and questions can be directed to the OSA office at 503-286-0477.

Hispanic cinema and literature conference begins
Cine-lit, an international conference on Hispanic cinema and literature, started today and will run through Feb. 24 with film showings at the Portland Art Museum's Whitsell Auditorium and at the Regal Broadway Metroplex.
Cine-lit is a showcase of Hispanic Cinema, including 23 Spanish-speaking films this year. The Portland State and Oregon State University foreign language departments are working with the Northwest Film Center and two other organizations on the conference that coincides with the Portland International Film Festival.

Master of International Management Program information session
For students with an interest in an international business career, the Portland State University's Master of International Management (MIM) program will be hosting an information session at 6 p.m. on Feb. 22. The session will provide information on the program, financial aid options and the chance to speak with recent local alumni.
The graduate program is based out of the School of Business Administration and positions students for careers in global business, specifically focusing on the growing markets of Asia and the Pacific Rim.
The session will take place at the PSU School of Business Administration Building, Room 550 (corner of Southwest Sixth and Harrison). The session is free and open to the public. For additional information contact the MIM office at 503-725-2272 or visit www.mim.pdx.edu.
