Portland State's Sustainability Club is hosting a "Clean Car Show" event in the Park Blocks between Smith Memorial Student Union and Cramer Hall today from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Three representatives from the Oregon Electric Vehicle Association will be at the event to discuss the benefits of an electric car and how students can go about purchasing and maintaining an electric vehicle.

Alex Hosford, event coordinator, said attendees will be able to look under the hoods and sit in the models of various hybrid and electric cars, including a Toyota Prius and a Honda Civic Hybrid.

Also hosting the event will be representatives from the student interest group OSPIRG, PSU's Bicycle Co-Op, FlexCar, PSU's Outdoor Program and the student-run café Food for Thought, Hosford said.

"It's all about getting students involved with sustainability, so I tried to bring in as many groups as I could," she said.

The event is free to attend, and a student ID is not required to participate.

This is a nice, upbeat story.
